Professional Learning Community 1 (Grade 1)

We are incredibly proud of our Grade 1 students! Over the past two weeks, students have been working hard to demonstrate what they have learnt and achieved so far this year. It has been wonderful to see students strive for their personal best with determination and persistence. We cannot wait to share with you the success and growth our students have made.

In Writing, our theme will be changing from Autumn to Out of Space. This will give students an excellent opportunity to explore their imagination and creative writing skills. Students will even get the chance to try and persuade their parents and carers that they should have a birthday party on the moon. We cannot wait to see what interesting reasons they come up with.

The Grade 1 Numeracy focus next week will be on location and transformation followed by recognising and identifying two dimensional shapes. Students will learn the importance of giving and following instructions to and from a range of different places.

Our Grade 1 students are looking forward to some exciting excursions over the coming weeks. We kindly ask that you please ensure you have given permission on Compass for your student to attend.

Greetings, wonderful families of our Grade 2 students! We hope this newsletter finds you all in great spirits. It's been an eventful couple of weeks for us as we've been diving deep into literacy and numeracy assessments. We couldn't be prouder of our students for their hard work and dedication, which has truly paid off in their assessments!

📝 Literacy and Numeracy Assessments:

We want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to each and every student for their outstanding performance in the recent Literacy and Numeracy assessments. It has been a joy to witness their progress and growth, and we're thrilled to see their efforts in class reflected in their assessments. Your support and encouragement at home have undoubtedly played a significant role in their achievements. Well done, Grade 2 superstars!

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Day: Save the Date - Thursday, June 8th:

Ahoy, me hearties! Get ready to unleash your inner pirates, as we're sailing towards a fantastic adventure on Pirate Day! On Thursday, June 8th, our Grade 2 crew will dress up as fearless pirates, exploring the treasures of imagination and creativity. Don't forget to help your child choose their pirate attire for this exciting day. Let's make it a day filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of "Arrr!"

🏰 Excursion to Sovereign Hill: Friday, June 9th:

Prepare for an incredible journey back in time, as our Grade 2 students are embarking on an unforgettable excursion to Sovereign Hill on Friday, June 9th. They will step into the shoes of gold miners and experience life during the Australian gold rush era. This hands-on learning opportunity will enhance their understanding of history and provide an immersive experience like no other. Please ensure that your child arrives at school on time, wearing suitable footwear for the excursion.

Professional Learning Community 3 (Grade 3)

We have officially passed the halfway mark of Term 2!

This week is our second week of assessments and we are very proud of the way that the Grade 3s have all been giving their personal best efforts to the many tests and assessment tasks that they have been completing. We look forward to seeing how much everyone has improved and grown in the first half of this year.

Just a reminder that consent forms for camp are now available to be completed on Compass. If there are any questions or issues, please contact the office or your child’s teacher.

Professional Learning Community 4 (Grade 4)

What a busy time in PLC 4!!! Assessment, assessment, assessment!!! Our Grade 4 students are doing an amazing job completing everything they need to do, which teachers will then use these results towards their school reports.

In PLC 4 we were also very lucky to have an excursion to Earth Ed where students were involved in many different experiments about our changing world. These included looking at erosion and abrasion and the effects of humans, weather and animals on our environment.

Professional Learning Community 5 (Grade 5)

We have been really proud of the hard work and persistence that students have shown during Assessment Weeks, it has been a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the success of our students. As the term begins to come to a close, students will be looking to reflect on their progress so far, pinpoint work that they would like to share in their portfolio and look to set some goals for the second half of the year.

We wish our Soccer players the best of luck today as they get ready to compete against a number of schools across Ballarat. We know that they will have the best day and try their little hearts out. Here is sneak peek of the teams in action during their lunch time practise.

Now to get into the spirit of pirate day – Avast, ye landlubbers! 'Tis time to set sail on a grand adventure fer a worthy cause! Ahoy there, me hearties! Our jolly school be hostin' a swashbucklin' Dress Up Pirate Day on the 8th of June arr! Put on yer finest pirate garb, don yer eye patches, and polish yer cutlasses, 'cause we be raisin' doubloons fer a noble cause – battlin' the brain cancer!

Professional Learning Community 6 (Grade 6)

Dear Grade 6 Families,

We hope this newsletter finds you well. It's been an exciting few weeks and we are delighted to share some updates and celebrate the achievements of our incredible students.

During assessment weeks, our Grade 6 students have demonstrated remarkable dedication and commitment to their learning, ensuring that they complete each assessment to their Personal Best. We look forward to sharing and celebrating each students’ successes with their Semester 1 reports, as well as their Learning Portfolio, both which will be available and sent home on Monday 19th June.

Congratulations to those students who were selected to represent our school at the Winter Sports. Well done to the Netball and AFL teams who have already participated in their events. These students have showcased their dedication and teamwork, both in the training sessions they attended as well as on the day of competition. We send our best wishes to the Soccer teams who are competing on Thursday.

As we return to our regular classroom learning programs next week in English we are looking forward to completing our book study on “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” and in Numeracy we will be looking at calculating the perimeter of regular and compound shapes.
