Students' had a great day out at the Tawonga annual Cross Country running event last Friday, with many enjoying the opportunity to run a different course. Many thanks to Tawonga PS for their organisation of the event, together with our staff and volunteers, and all families who went along to support students on the day.
Students in Prep-4 participated in their second and final AFL Primary School Clinic. It was great to see students participating and enjoying the activities as they developed greater confidence in their skills over the two sessions.
On Wednesday, students in Year 5/6 arrived at school, bright and early, ready to embark on their trip to Canberra for a three day camp.
After a busy first day that included a visit to Reconciliation Place, the AIS and some evening Laser Tag, today students have spent the day exploring Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial and Questacon. Many thanks to Dave, Steph, Michelle, Joy, Juliette, Michelle and Andy for all that they have done and are doing to provide our students with this great experience. We look forward to sharing more of their journey next week!
With the proposed changes to kerbside rubbish collection and the introduction of the green waste caddies, tomorrow students in Years 3 & 4 will participate in an education program about waste management. This presentation is provided by the Alpine Shire and will focus on how to separate their waste, how the new bin system will work, and what the benefits to the environment will be.
Mid-year Parent Teacher interviews will be held next week and online bookings can now be made through Compass. If you require a longer meeting time, please contact the office or your child's teacher, to arrange an alternate time.
Thank you to everyone involved in our recent fundraising efforts. The first of two West Peak raffles raised $715, which is a great effort. A big thank you to Joy and Priscilla for their time in selling tickets and to all that went along to join in the fun and support our school. Thank you also to the West Peak Hotel for their support of our school and community.
I would also like to thank Deirdre and Stan who volunteered their time at the Mount Beauty Run last Saturday. A donation for their efforts will be made to the school in return for their time.
Next week, students in Years 4-6 will have the opportunity to participate in the annual Attitudes to School Survey. This state-wide survey is aligned to the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes and the aggregated data is designed to provide schools with actionable insights in key elements of school improvement. Further to information sent out previously on Compass, if you do not wish to for your child to participate in the survey please contact the office by close of business tomorrow.
A reminder that the Mount Beauty Tennis Club is currently offering half-yearly membership for new members until 30th September 2023, at half the annual fee. More information can be found in the Community Notices of this newsletter or you can join online here.
Recently we have had a number of students presenting with COVID like symptoms. With the number of reported cases on the increase, we are asking all families to please test their child for COVID if they are showing any symptoms and to please avoid sending your child to school if they are unwell.
