Hello, from Carolyn.

Hello everyone,

Thank you to everybody who was able to come along for our Special Visitor afternoon. Every classroom was filled with smiling happy faces, and some surprised faces when students didn't know someone was making the trip to Bendigo to be here for the afternoon. A big thank you to our staff for preparing fun activities for students and visitors to do, and some grades had even made a small afternoon snack to share with their visitors. It was a fabulous afternoon.

And then to finish the day, our Family BBQ! I really enjoyed chatting with lots of you, and seeing our school full of happy people enjoying meeting each other and catching up. A very big thank you to our Parents & Friends group for organising, cooking and cleaning up, and a special pat on the back to Kim Kirkpatrick who was also behind the BBQ cooking up a storm!

Curriculum Day on Monday 22 May.

Don't forget, no students at school on Monday. Our staff will be at school continuing our literacy professional learning with Narissa Leung, Literacy consultant. We will be revisiting the 'Six+1 Traits' writing model we implement, learning more about using the 6+1 traits when conferencing with students and moderating their work samples (moderating work samples is when we compare student work samples across our year levels to make sure we are on the right track with our understanding of where each student is at). It's going to be a great learning day.

OSHC booking system.

I have had feedback from some of our families that they are finding the OSHC booking system frustrating and not easy to navigate. I have passed that feedback on to the YMCA and they are currently in the process of putting a tender out for a new booking system. Hopefully with a new system in place, there will be less problems.

There have also been a few changes in staff which have been unavoidable as Kristen has been on leave and, like many businesses, it can be tricky finding staff. I have been impressed that the YMCA has been able to continue to staff our program despite those difficulties and challenges.

Enrolment time.

Don't forget, now is the time to collect an enrolment form from the office if you have a child starting school here next year. If you are out of our zone but currently have a child attending our school, then you can collect an enrolment form. If you know someone who is interested in enrolling their child at our wonderful school, encourage them to contact the office to arrange a school tour.

Fear-Less parent seminar.

We had a small group of parents attend the parenting seminar Monday after school. There were helpful tips, strategies and conversations. You can access further supports from the Triple-P website

warm regards,

Carolyn.
