Weekend Activities
Last Friday evening the majority of students went to Eaton Fair for some retail therapy. Saturday morning saw a trip into Bunbury for shopping and lunch for who ever wanted. Followed by an evening trip back to the cinema by a group of students to see Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Sunday was a relaxing day hanging out around the College and enjoying the fire pit and marshmallows as the evening set in.
What happened during the Week
Monday evening, we had Rob from GrooveMasters come to the College and run a digital quiz night, which was a great night of fun and enjoyment. Rob did a wonderful job of engaging the students with an entertaining evening of quizzes. Unfortunately, some of the students behaviour was less than the College expectations and this did distract from the otherwise great evening.
Tuesday saw the College netball team kick off the season with a comfortable win which Mr Jones described as solid for a first up run. Well done.
Wednesday evening, we had the Tomorrow Man and Woman Organisation attend to speak with and engage the Year 10 students. This is an amazing program that encourages young people to speak up and share experiences, helping them understand emotions and feelings that may be unfamiliar to them. It was well received, and engaged the students involved.
Thursday the same group of presenters were back to catch up with the Year 11 Boarders.
Wednesday evening, at very short notice, we were able to put together a couple of Volleyball teams for the local competition in town. Thanks to all the students who participated. From all reports we represented the College well and the students enjoyed themselves.
Hair Clippers
Can I just remind students, parents and guardians there is a very good reason why hair clippers are not permitted onsite and not to be used by budding amateur hairdressers as quite often ends in very ordinary results. One student this week was required to be taken to the local hairdresser to try and salvage his new style.
Fast Food
One further issue that has arisen recently, is fast food being brought back to College. Our chefs and cooks do an amazing job feeding the students 7 times a day and we think it is disrespectful for students to bring fast food to site and then not eat the meals staff have spent many hours preparing.
Coming Up
This Saturday Mrs Armstrong and Mr Jones are off to Perth for the day to take those who are keen for some indoor sky diving at iFly in Rivervale. This should be very exciting and fun for those students who have chosen to participate.
Next week we have another organisation coming on site to engage the Year 12 Boarders with “Dindindi Drumming”. This is new to us, but we have had some excellent feedback about the program and we are really looking forward to it. The program will run in the two groups Monday and Wednesday evenings for 5 weeks. It will be a great opportunity to talk, listen and learn something new. Many of the students are looking forward to the program.
We wish all our mums in and around the College a fantastic, joyful and relaxing day for Mother’s Day this Sunday.
