Library Borrowing

Although students are not present at school, they are still able to access the school library by coming in to school. Simply come to the office and let them know you'd like to borrow some library books. If also returning books, these will be placed into a tub to be cleaned before being returned to the shelves.

Accessing Oliver

Our library system is known as Oliver.

It may be accessed in two ways.

1.  By students clicking on the 'waffle' or 9 dots in the top right corner of their Google page and scrolling down until they find the library icon  and clicking on it. OR

2. https://library.arm.catholic.edu.au/oliver/login/

Both ways will take you to the home page for the Armidale Diocese. You MUST then choose St Joseph's West Tamworth from the drop down.

SORA, World Book Online and the Premier's Reading Challenge are all available from our school home page as direct links.

Electronic Borrowing-SORA

Ebooks are a great option for students. Our library system- Oliver- is accessible to all students using their school login details. Part of our catalogue are ebooks which students may download onto their own devices for use at home. These books are automatically returned which means no overdue books! I encourage students to browse the ebooks in Oliver.

Premier's Reading Challenge

All students have received their login details for the Challenge. Primary students are able to upload their own data. Students in Kinder and Stage 1 are able to keep a log and I will enter these when we are all able to return to school.

Parents of infants (K -2) students who wish to input their childs' books to the Challenge may do so and it will be appreciated.

Currently, we already have one Stage 2 student who has completed the Challenge for this year. Now we're back to learning, I look forward to seeing many others also finish.

The Reading Challenge concludes 28th August.

Children's Book Council of Australia Awards and Book Week Parade

Shortlisted books for these prestigious awards have recently been announced.  We are fortunate that many of these books are already in our library and I look forward to sharing some of these.

St Joseph's usually holds our Book Week Parade and Book  Fair to coincide with the announcement of the winning books. This year we hope to continue this although the CBCA has moved its Book Week dates and announcement of winning books to October 17- 23.

SO... watch this space for more information as it comes to hand.
