1/2A - Book Week

The Grade 1/2F class has been busy celebrating Book Week! One of our books that we explored was called ‘Stellarphant’ by James Folley.

Heroes come in all shapes, sizes and species. Stella wants to be an astronaut. There is only one problem: Stella is an elephant. Every time she applies to Space Command, they come up with a new reason she can’t join. But where there’s a will, there’s a way, and Stella is determined to reach for the stars. Does she have the right stuff?

The class agreed that it was a great book for kids and adults! We explored the themes of persistence, courage and resilience and discussed the different animals that have been to space before.

We then created our own ‘Hall of Fame’ by deciding on an animal that we think would be ideal for space! They did a terrific job.
