Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week
Next week, during week 7, it is CBCA Book Week. This year in celebration, the library has the following student activities planned to promote literacy and engagement.
Tuesday - Second Hand Book Swap
Would you like to swap your pre-loved books with others? Bring your book(s) into the library before the 19th August in order for staff to prepare this event. Please remember that all books should be age appropriate (11 – 18 years) and be in good condition. The Book Swap will take place at lunctime in the Seminar Room.
Wednesday and Thursday – Library Trivia Quiz
The inaugural Library Trivia Quiz begins this year. It runs over the course of two lunchtimes with great prizes for the winners and runners up. In addition, the winning team will have their name immortalized on the Library Trivia Cup Trophy.
The word "trophy" is derived from the Greek tropaion, which comes from the verb trope, meaning "to rout." Since ancient times trophies have marked victories as they are a commemorative reminder of achievement and merit.
Friday – Butterfly Bookmarks
Come along and learn the art of Origami or Japanese paper folding. Students will be shown how to make their own butterfly book mark and then decorate their creation with metallic and glitter pens.
Book Club
Term 3 Book Club titles One of us is lying and The fault in our stars have arrived and are available for loan from the library desk.
Mythology Club
Come along to the Mythology Club lunchtimes on Tuesday in the Library Seminar room. We have an exciting array of activities, books and resources for you to discover.
Kingston Council Library News
Our local libraries have a writing competition for those students who are interested. The age categories are 5-7 years, 8-10 years, 11-13 years and 14-16 years. There will be three prizes awarded per age group.
