Jane Godwin Zoom Author Visit

Our Book Club and library monitors were treated to a free Zoom meeting with Jane Godwin last Monday.

Jane shared about the writing process for her books and gave us tips on how to shadow judge the CBCA shortlist category for Older Readers.

Jane’s latest book, A Walk in the Dark, will be added to our collection. It tells the story of five teenagers getting lost in the Otway Ranges of Victoria.

Harry Potter’s Birthday

To celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday on July 31, we prepared a display for all to explore. Harry Potter shares his birthday with his creator, J.K. Rowling. The display caught the attention of our students and they are keen to read the books. Craft Club members had a ball celebrating Harry Potter’s birthday with cake and model making.

Check out Harry Potter’s official site for quizzes. https://www.wizardingworld.com/

NAIDOC Week

Under the guidance of Sharon Linsell, our Marrung students did an awesome job in creating our NAIDOC Week display in the library. We have some great reads for you to explore.

YABBA Virtual Author Recording – Aunty Fay Muir & Sue Lawson

YABBA’s (Young Australian Best Book Awards) most recent virtual author interview with Aunty Fay Muir and Sue Lawson gives an insightful and relevant message for our school’s celebration of NAIDOC Week. They discuss the importance of NAIDOC Week, and we are treated to a reading of Aunty Fay Muir’s book, Respect. The book is based on our First Nation’s history and relationship with the flora and fauna of Phillip Island and their family. It teaches us to respect Country, each other, and yourself. We will be adding this book and others in the series (Sharing and Family) to our library collection.
