Launch Families,

Just a quick one for the end of term to acknowledge some of the great work that has been happening around our place.

Term Three has seen our Literacy team continue to lead our Writing focus with the incorporation of VCOP strategies including the ‘Big Writes’ which have reignited the home-school partnership in learning and welcomed you all back into our classrooms post-Covid to witness your children’s learning in progress.

Our Wellbeing team presented their refined Behaviour Response flowchart and we revisited our processes for yard duty and following up student behaviour.  This work was followed by our Numeracy team that led some important learning clarifying scope and sequences and our reaffirming our understandings about the ‘big ideas’ of mathematics.

Student, family and staff wellbeing has remained a priority, with all staff and families contributing positively to the ‘vibe’ of our school.  The smiles, the acknowledgements, the conversations, the gratitude and the care – all shows our students they are important, cared for and valued here.

Our Wellbeing team has led the introduction of weekly videos around our Behaviour expectations at assembly that star our very own LPPS students.  These teachings have been followed up and expanded upon in our CARER groups  and referred to by classroom teachers during opportune moments.

Our PE and sporting program has continued with class sessions focused on gymnastics and cooperative games and additional opportunities provided, involving footy clinics, the Hooptime competitions, ski trip, 2/3 tabloid sports and Athletics Techno challenge; each memorable events for individuals, groups and cohorts of our students.

Our Japanese program has continued with students invited to a speech competition and a cooking class celebrating a term of great learning.  Likewise our Arts program provides opportunities for students to be creative, try something new and share the products of their learning.

Our assemblies have become an opportunity to gather, celebrate and belong.  Together we sing, dance, congratulate and demonstrate pride in our school.  Families, thank you for your participation, role modelling and contributions.  The Star Awards, the Values Fish, the Aussies of the Month, the Writing Awards… spreading positivity and affirming great learning.

It was a camping term with our 2/3s spending the night at ADANAC and our 4/5/6s enjoying a couple of nights down at Phillip Island.  Thank you families for prioritizing these experiences for your children.  It means so much to them and provides such a learning opportunity, especially after not having had the chance to spread their wings a little for a couple of years.

Our Kinder/Prep Transition Program geared up with our Kinder visits by staff/Yr 4 students, school visits by Launching Place Kinder and our structured Transition Afternoons where potential students get a ‘taste’ of our curriculum programs.

Our Preps/Year One’s celebrated 100/101 days of school this term, with activities, a dress up day and a special assembly organised in recognition.

Our friends from ‘The Alpha Show’ returned to us and together we enjoyed 'Aladdin'.  Our Year 6’s heard all about Puberty from our visiting presenter and we put on quite the occasion ‘Dads’ and Mates’ Breakfast’ to celebrate Father’s Day.

And a school review! I'll be able to share more 'next steps' about this next term.

Rest up over the holidays (if you get the opportunity) and take some time out to reconnect.  I'll be spending a week or so with my lot before returning to school in the second week of the holidays to put some finishing touches on our plans for Term Four.

I so look forward to seeing you all Monday 3rd October.  Stay safe Launch tribe!
