Principal's Message

Nurture.  Innovate.  Celebrate.

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

KITCHEN GARDEN

This term the Kitchen Garden program has seen some new changes and exciting developments. Firstly, the vegetable garden was officially renamed to “The Patch”. Thank you to our STEAM and Sustainability student leaders for leading this change. Secondly, students have had the opportunity to harvest some of our very own produce. We have harvested radishes, beetroots, lettuce, cauliflower and broccoli. Students did a fantastic job taking turns to harvest vegetables, sharing tools, and working as a team. Our next steps are to plant more lettuce, silver beet, spinach, snow peas, cucumbers and tomatoes. Lastly, some of our classes have had their first cooking sessions. Our students made healthy wraps using pickled radish, pickled beetroot, lettuce and carrot. We practiced skills such as peeling, grating and chopping with a knife. The energy in the kitchen was filled with excitement and lots of happy faces as we enjoyed the spoils of our hard work!

STEAM

This year, to celebrate National Science week, the STEAM student leaders organised a poem writing competition around the theme of glass. Thank you to all students who entered the competition and well done for writing such fantastic poems!

Congratulations to our winners:

1st place – William McPherson in 3/4M

2nd place – Celeste Vandehoef in 5/6G

3rd place – Madison Bremner in 3/4M

In the classroom, students are learning about all things living! This is part of our learning about biological sciences. Across our classes, students have been investigating animal structure and function, ecosystems and food chains, and life cycles.

BOOK WEEK

Thank you to everyone who attended our Book Week Parade yesterday. It was fantastic to have our school community together onsite. Thank you to those parents and friends who were able to join us and for all the effort students and families went to, to come dressed up as characters from different books. At such events, our school and school community are definitely all winners!

We do have some special prizes, which were judged by our School Leaders – Macey, Charlie, Mia and Gayatri, alongside Mr Tomazos, Mrs Katis and Miss Po. It was a task full of difficult decisions and they did an amazing job to reach a consensus.
