The last few weeks of term 3 provided opportunities for Year 5 students to consolidate the bridge and claw techniques to cut and safe grating skills to make a variety of dishes. Students practised negotiation and teamwork to navigate the food preparation and cleaning up processes. We also learnt oven safety, features and operational parts. The learning of safety processes allows students to avoid injuries and damage to equipment when working in small groups in the school kitchen. Throughout the term, students made healthy vegetable dishes, and as a treat for the end of term, orange and poppy seed muffins were made as a treat.
Next term, students will continue to practise turning the oven on and off safely with adult supervision as they explore more baking recipes.
