RMIT University 2nd of September 2022 – Alex and Lauren

On Wednesday the 24th of August, the Year 9 students had the opportunity to participate in a presentation from RMIT lecture, which provided student an insight to studying at RMIT university. Alex from the RMIT Marketing Team and Lauren, a third-year student, explained that RMIT offers an array of degrees catering to individual interests across 6 different Campuses (Melbourne City, Brunswick, Bundoora, Point Cook, Bendigo, and Hamilton).

There is an opportunity for students to study out of Australia too, with two RMIT campuses in Vietnam and a research collaboration centre in Spain. These campuses also teach the required subjects in English, so there are no further language requirements for those interested. Lauren explained to students that there is a chance to complete work experience while studying, giving students the chance to have a taste in work life specific to their career path. Support is also provided on campus helping students create a resume and mock interviews.

The Year 9 Students were advised that university lifestyle defers from high school as there is more flexibility in how you organise your timetable. The education environment changes too, where you are taught in a far larger audience in comparison to your usual class sizes, but smaller classes are also scheduled to work through the taught content and required assessments. There is also the ability to join a club which you may be interested in and if you can’t find one, you can start one!

In addition to the educational benefits, RMIT also supports students with Health Clinics, Counselling services, and mentors all available on campus.
