Years 7-9
Dear Year 8 parents and guardians,
While there has been some cold weeks of late, Term 3 has seen an action packed Term for our Year 8 students participating in a range of activities, learning incursions, excursions and sporting events including:
- Year 8 Winter Interschool sports including basketball and Table tennis. All student who participated throughout the day represented Brookside College in such a positive ways displaying the 4Rs in their matches and throughout the day. Our Boys table tennis team made it through to the finals loosing out unfortunately to Maribyrnong College. The girls team not far behind getting some great rally’s going with their opposition team. The boys basketball team made it to the grand finale just getting pipped at the very end by Footscray City. Our Year 8 Girls basketball team managed to win the entire day- wining every game and dominating in their grand final match- well done girls, they will be representing Brookside College at Division in Term 4.
- The Year 8 Liveability excursion has definitely been a highlight for our Year 8 students this Term, competing in an amazing race type scavenger hunt around the city to located different city landmarks. Students in each class mapped out their plan for the day and lead the directions and navigating around the city. The kids had a fantastic day and enjoyed exploring Melbourne city all together.
- The Year 8 Author Visit the students had a very educative visit from the author Morris Geitz as they prepare to read his book in their upcoming Term 4 English studies. It was an amazing opportunity to have students listen in to the concepts behind his books and have the time to ask any burning questions they had about his books, writing or his time as an author.
The last few weeks of Term 3 is very busy and jam packed for our Year 8s as we look towards end of day celebrations which our termly Teacher vs Student game will be held- with Teachers pumped and ready to match up against our year 8 students. Within the cohort the process for electives, school captaincy and Year 9 jumper orders have started- so stay tuned onto compass for further information regarding these exciting things!
