From the Principal

Well we have made it to the end of another term! This year does seem to be passing by at a rate of knots. When looking at some of the events from this term, it is not surprising that I feel this way! All our teachers and school staff have done another brilliant job this term ensuring all our students are engaged in a safe and stimulating learning environment. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their commitment and efforts to make this happen.

  10. Year 1 Science Incursion

  15. A number of sporting events: athletics, basketball, football, soccer and year level swimming

I have spoken a lot this term about how complex the school environment is currently. Our teachers have to make many different adaptions to their work this term, based on these complexities. We hope that as we move out of Winter and into Spring, Term 4 will be able to remove some of these complexities.

I would also like to thank all parents and carers for their support. Having a positive partnership between home and school ensures that your child's learning is impacted upon positively. We look forward to maintaining these positive partnerships during Term 4.

2023 Planning

Just a reminder that if you know that your child will not be attending Langwarrin Park Primary School next year, please inform the school office immediately. I am now into building our workforce plan for next year and it is directly impacted by our student enrolment numbers.

In the first few weeks of Term 4, I will be seeking any parent requests for next year. Parent requests will only be approved if there are valid educational reasons. Please be aware that requesting a specific teacher is not a valid educational reason.

2023 LOTE Subject

I would like to thank all parents and carers in our school community who responded to the Google Form I sent out a few weeks ago seeking input into what our 2023 LOTE subject should be. Based on the data collected from this survey and one completed by staff, there was overwhelming support to introduce Auslan. So from the beginning of 2023, Auslan will be our new school LOTE subject. Early next term I will make further announcements about how we will approach the planning of this subject. This is very exciting news for our community and we look forward to its introduction in 2023.

The Term Ahead

Term 4 is always an exciting one and we look forward to providing many wonderful and engaging opportunities for our students. Some things to look forward to include:

  1. The Grade 6 production
  2. Grade 3 Camp to Merricks
  3. Year level excursions and incursions
  4. Grade 5s preparing for Grade 6 leadership positions
  5. F-2 Twilight Sports
  6. Whole School Transition Up Day

On behalf of all Langy Park staff I wish everyone in our school community a very safe and relaxing holiday period. We hope you all take the chance to recharge your batteries and return to school ready to go.

Take care everyone!

Richard
