Relationships/Community – Build Relationships with Community

The next five weeks of Term 3 will see many visitors to our beautiful Austins Ferry Campus. Staff and students from our Catholic feeder schools will be on site for their Grade 5 visits, coordinated by Year 7 Transition Coordinator Mr Greg Mills.  At the beginning of each of these visits, several of our Aboriginal students will be working with young palawa mentors Jamie Graham Blair and Trent Prouse to help lead these visits with a meaningful and personal Acknowledgement of Country.

Throughout this term we will also be working with groups of students from St Cuthbert’s Catholic School, Mount Carmel College, St Aloysius Catholic College and Dominic College as they engage with our tunapri makuminya Project. These special visits will involve a tour of the themeda grasslands, the river reed lawns, the labyrinth, lowamakana and the living site beside the river. They will learn about the cultural significance of many of the plants and geology in these environments and also have some tome to explore and play in their natural surroundings.
