Mentor Program

After a long break due to Covid, earlier this month we were able to host our first In-Person ABCN Session (the Innovate Program) in over 2 years with students from Copperfield College!

The Innovate Program aims to inspire young people to pursue job opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics by encouraging the uptake of STEM subjects.  Following 3 online sessions, in the final group session FBAU mentors assisted our mentees to present back to the group some amazing ideas for products that will assist their local communities.

We had some wonderful feedback regarding the Innovate Program - here are just a few:

Student Comments:

  • The most important thing I learnt from my mentor was that STEM is becoming a big part of our lives in the future so it is good to be interested in STEM.
  • Learning how to solve problems and what AI products can be made for certain people.
  • They [the mentors] are there to help and guide me. They won’t judge me for what I have to say.
  • I am interested in pitching my creative ideas in maybe a company like Fujifilm
  • I feel as though it was a very fun experience and it would be good if you continued to do this program
  • I really felt like I needed this to improve in my everyday life
