Parent/Carer workshop; Supporting young people: Notice, Ask, Connect. Run by headspace.
Date: 9/3/22
Time: 7 - 8:30PM
Location: Online (link will be sent closer to the date)
headspace is providing mental health education workshops to secondary schools across Australia, with the aim to increase mental health literacy, reduce stigma, and build the capacity of young people to understand their own wellbeing needs, support their peers and explore pathways for help-seeking. As part of this program, they are also offering a Parent and Carer workshops alongside the student workshops. The Parent / Carer workshop aims to be interactive, strength-based, evidence-informed and will be delivered online, outside of work hours.
This parents only workshop has the following learning outcomes:
• Understand mental health and wellbeing in young people
• Notice changes that a young person might be going through a tough time
• Identify strategies to connect and communicate with young people
• Increase knowledge about how to support a young person and where to access professional support
Please note this workshop is adults ONLY, and headspace request that you do not to bring their children or young people into the room at the time. headspace have advised us the workshop is not a place to disclose personal stories or an opportunity to seek clinical guidance regarding the specific needs of their young person. Instead, it is a chance for parents to learn some really good information about mental health in adolescents, and to take away some practical strategies they could use when supporting their young person at home.

World's Greatest Shave
Mr T is participating in the ‘The World’s Greatest Shave’ on Tuesday 14th March and we would love for everyone to get involved. The World’s Greatest Shave is a campaign led by the Leukaemia Foundation; an Australian Charity dedicated to supporting people living with blood cancer.
For over 2 years Mr T has been growing his hair with the intention to participate in the shave. After one year of growing his hair not only did Mr T become fond of his new look but he changed his goal. He didn’t just want to shave his hair for the cause, but he wanted to grow his hair long enough to donate it.
