Nerd clubs update

A bunch of LEGO Nerds created “Monster Builds” at the library… here are some of their creations! 

Ms de Geus couldn’t help but show off her Monster Build, inspired by a single sentence in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone that she always remembers fondly…

Digital Design Competition

A huge thank you to our Digital Design Competition winners: 

Kaitlyn (9) for the Fantasy genre, Jami (9) for Horror, Chloe (10E) for both Animal Stories and Crime, and Georgia (12) for Dystopian fiction! Kaitlyn’s dragon is finished and on display at the library, the other designs will appear throughout the term as the signs are made. 

Since there were some categories that were unfilled, we are re-opening the competition until May 12th, see the categories below:

• Mystery and Suspense
• True Stories
• Humour
• Sports Stories
• School Stories
• Historical Fiction
• General Fiction
• Australian Fiction
• War Stories
• Action and Adventure
• Love Stories
• Supernatural

Designs are to be original works in black and white line drawings (shading can only be in small areas of the picture). Winning artworks will be burnt onto wood to make the signs, like the one pictured above.

Winners will be judged by our library staff team. Your design will only be used to create the sign, and then the digital file will be deleted, to protect your intellectual property. Your name will also be engraved onto the base of the sign, along with your 2023 year level.
