From the SRC

With Term 1 already coming to a close, the SRC wanted to share with the school community what it has been working on for the past ten weeks and what students can expect to see and hear about soon.

We began the year by taking part on a new program, Teach the Teacher, which is led by VicSRC, a state-wide organisation. In this program, the SRC chose a particular topic to focus on. Co-Curricular Activities was the decided topic and Teach the Teacher allows us to think of ways we, as students, can bring more attention to and raise participation in this area.

Only this week, we had another meeting with our VicSRC member and the house system and its relevance were discussed, among other things.

Early on in this term as well, our two Year 7 representatives were elected - congratulations to Josh and Keira! During Harmony Week, the SRC also organised a casual clothes day for students. We raised well nearly $600 in gold coin donations for the Red Cross aiding Türkiye and Syria after the earthquakes. A wonderful result for a very worthy cause.

We had a planning day a couple of weeks ago where we discussed what we want to see change around the school and how we can increase student voice and agency.

Finally, we have also been working hard to finalise a poster that outlines the correct way to report bullying or harassment so that students have a clear idea of what to do. This will be released in Term 2.

We are all very excited to come back next term well-rested and with more ideas ready to implement!
