Learn what opportunities our students have been taking on

Yr 7 Science

WHAT'S ON AT SCHOOL!

This week, Mr Werner's Year 7 science class have been learning the importance of using accurate measurements. Students completed a task on mixing colours by measuring specific amounts of coloured water from beakers into measuring cylinders, before mixing them in test tubes.

Harmony Day

It was great to see many of our students and staff wearing orange to celebrate Harmony Day and show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia.

VCE Outdoor Education

This week our VCE Outdoor Education students practiced safe participation in outdoor experiences whilst canoeing on the Wimmera river. The activity provided a link to ways of knowing, experiencing and responding to outdoor environments, which is part of the study design.

Congratulations to Year 11 student, Jed Hermans who placed 3rd in the Mens Open section at the Australian Scooter Association Victorian State Championships held recently! He will now compete at the National Championships later this year.

Well done Jed!

Congratulations to Year 12 student Claire Longstaff  who represented the Horsham Fire Brigade at the 2023 Senior CFA/VFBV State Firefighter Championships. Claire is the youngest on the senior team and was the only female competing for her team this year. Claire placed 4th in the Female Marshall for Single Competitor with a time of 32.31secs. Claire also competed in a number of other events, of note the Female Marshall for two competitors with a team member from Sale, the girls had never met before the day and achieved a time that would have placed second but due to being a composite team did not achieve points for the event.

Well done Claire!

Halogen Youth Leadership

On Monday, our four school leaders and principal, Mr. Raven, travelled to Melbourne to attend the annual Halogen National Young Leaders Day. It was a great day where students were given the opportunity to participate in presentations that focused on leadership, as well as hear from guest speakers.
