From the Principal

Term 2 has greeted us with the onset of cooler weather and it has been fantastic to see so many students showing their pride in belonging to Camden High School by wearing the correct full school uniform, including our seniors in their jerseys and jackets.

A reminder that all students are expected to wear black, fully covered leather shoes every day, with the exception of Thursday sports day for junior students.

We are currently in the process of reviewing our uniform supply contract, and we hope to be able to improve availability and supply.

Mobile Phones

Many families would already be aware of the recently announced mobile phone ban in high schools.

Some important aspects of the ban include:

  • It will apply during lunch and recess, as well as in class.
  • Students will still be able to carry their phones while travelling to and from school.

During term 2, the Department of Education will be supporting schools to get ready for enacting the ban. Term 3 will be used for familiarisation and communicating with the school community ready for implementation of the ban in term 4.

Our current procedures are outlined below and remain in place until term 4.

  • During class time, it is expected that all devices are switched off or left on silent and are stored out of sight in a student’s bag. Headphones and bluetooth devices must also be removed and placed into school bags during class time.
  • Mobile Digital Devices may be used during recess and lunch breaks as long as it does not impact on the safety and wellbeing of other students.
  • Students should not record images, videos or sound unless under explicit teacher instructions.
  • Teachers will impose fair and escalating consequences to students who fail to comply with these guidelines. This will start with a request to put the device away, if a student is seen to be using the device again during the lesson, then the teacher will ask the student to bring their phone to the office where it will secured until the end of the school day.
