Last Friday, we celebrated Harmony Week with a whole school fun and interactive incursion that focussed on Spanish and Latin American culture. The students dressed in their own cultural dress or country specific colours and the money they brought in was added to our Caritas Fridays fundraising.
Students participated in dancing, singing, games and language practice. Some described it as "muy bueno!"
Thank you so much to one of our St Michael's parents, Maria Valenzuela for putting on such a wonderful day!
This week, all the teachers from prep to year six, as well as specialists, were given collaborative time in teams to participate in planning for term 2. This is a rigorous process, where teachers discuss ideas and create engaging lessons with the guidance of the Victorian Curriculum.
Our whole school inquiry focus next term is, "Australian History - Then and Now." Teachers will integrate the history curriculum within other areas of the curriculum, including English and the Capabilities. Junior teachers will be looking for technologies and school items that were used in the past - perhaps you have something of interest lying around at home?
