Welcome our new staff

Leanne Hindley

Ms Hindley was feeling a bit unfulfilled in her finance career and realised she could use the skills she had acquired in the corporate world to make a real difference in the lives of young people.   By harnessing her real life experiences, she hopes to inspire and motivate her students to reach their potential.  She says St Helena is a very welcoming community which provides opportunities for students to extend themselves across a variety of engaging study areas.  She says the teachers are very focused on the well-being of students, and building positive relationships which positively impact student learning and behaviour.    In her spare time Ms Hindley loves playing competition tennis and bird watching.  Ms Hindley teaches humanities and commerce.

Jo Greig

Ms Greig spent 6 years working as a psychologist in the forensic field and never felt as thought she was making the difference she wanted to make.  She started looking at other options and decided that teaching would be the career where she could gain a deeper sense of meaning and purpose while still using the knowledge and skills she gained as a psychologist.  Ms Greig is teaching humanities and, unsurprisingly, psychology.  Ms Greig has found the staff here friendly and approachable and loves that our kids have some freedom to show their individuality.   She says it is a hard working but relaxed atmosphere.   As a child, Ms Greig's favourite pastime was hanging upside down on a trapeze and she still dreams of running away to join the circus some day.

Chantelle Taxis

Ms Taxis is a higly experienced tacher, spending most of her 18 year career teaching at Strathmore Secondary College in the Art and Design Technology department.   She finds St Helena highly organised, the staff lovely and the kids great.   She became a teacher because she is passionate abut education.   She is creative, and couldn't think of a better way to spend her day than making things with students.   Ms Taxis loves to paint with watercolours and printmaking.   The main themes that inspire her are Australian natives and birds.
