Visual Arts Term 1

This has been a very busy term in the Visual Arts room.
Foundation
Students have focussed on making collage works inspired by the books and artwork of Eric Carle. We then moved onto using oil pastels to make a variety of different marks.
Year 1 and 2
Year one and two have also been focussing on collage art work. We have looked at three famous artists who used collage in different ways, Henri Matisse, Eric Carle and Pete Cromer. We ahve created works inspired by these artist - although we are still working on our Pete Cromer inspired masterpieces.
Year 3 and 4
In years three and four we have spent the term focussing on the art element of form. Students have been developing their drawing skills drawing lego blocks and then drawing a round terrarium as a challenge. They have also been making a sculpture paper mache piece which will be decorated next term.
Year 5 and 6
Year five and six have been looking at the famous Australian Art Silos. We have studied their inspiration and effect art has had on rural communities. We have explored their use of monochromatic colour ranges and are currently working on completing a major project of designing and creating our our very mini art silos.
Harmony Day
We took a small break from our term units to celebrate Harmony Weeek. Since art has a huge inpact of bring communities together we spent the week creating class colabrative art works. Foundation and year one and two created harmony hands - working on blending oil pastels to crear new colours. These then have been put together to creat Lorax inspired Truffula trees. Year three and Four worked on their pencil colour blending skills to create a year level paper quilt. Look out for it soon in the hallway. Year five and Six have been inspire by henna hand decorations and also experimented with liquid water colours to create their display.
