Wellbeing

Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. This year, we will be celebrating on Thursday 23rd of March, 2023. Harmony Week runs from 15th to the 21st March and students will be exploring the values of acceptance, tolerance, inclusion and respect  throughout the week. On the Thursday, we encourage students to dress in their National Dress, National Colours OR Orange for the Harmony Day theme - “Where Everyone Belongs”

On Thursday, we will dedicate the entire day to promoting the idea that  everyone belongs. We will view the videos lovingly made by members of our school community. These videos show the many cultures and backgrounds from which people come.  We will have guest speakers talking about different cultures. We will involve the children in a variety of activities throughout the day to  celebrate Harmony Week!

So far, I have some amazing videos describing St Brendan’s family's cultures and would LOVE to MORE to SHARE.

I’ve attached the note below as a reminder! Please encourage your friends and family to get involved.

In celebration of this week, we are looking to find out how many different cultural origins we have in our community. Please help me share your stories. The success of this project depends on your participation :)

I have attached a few example videos from Mrs Daniela Ruberto, Mrs Bernie Turner, Mrs Erica Hudson, Mrs Jenny Riddell and her father and our parent friend Jo Barry.

Please email your video to thaddock@sbsomerville.catholic.edu.au or if you would like me to quickly film it before or after school for you, I would be happy to do that too!

If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks so much,
