Australian National Uni visit

On Thursday 30th March Future Student Coordinator - Clara Hill from ANU will be at GSSC at lunchtime (Enterprise building ) and session 5 to talk to students interested in courses. ANU is located in Canberra and has a wide range of courses available from Arts, Social Science, Asia and the Pacific, Business, Engineering, Law, Medicine and Science. It’s important to note that applications are currently open for ANU and close on May 15th for 2024 entry. This timeline is quite different from Victorian Universities so don’t leave it too late to apply. There are also great scholarships available which Clara will talk about during her visit. Clara will be available for individual appointments during Period 5 and will be located in the Dharnya Library if interested.  If you need help with your application see the Careers Practitioner in your neighbourhood.

Construction Industry Training

GSSC has recently advertise for students interested in completing their Construction Industry Card (CI Card) to apply for courses that will be run on campus. The CI card is required when working on any building site and many trades people are required to carry them whilst working. Trades such as Building and Construction, Plumbing, Electrotechnology, and Plastering are just a few examples. Once the CI card- training is completed it last many years as long as the person is working in the industry and will be used by students to gain Work Experience and Structured Work Placement whilst still at school.

Whilst the March 30th training is fully booked there are still some places for May 18th. There is a cost involved but much cheaper when done at school. If you are interested drop into see Natasha Boyko in Dharnya neighbourhood. Her office is just behind the IT desk. (Note that all Year 11 VCE VM students will be completing their CI training as a part of their course.)
