Senior School

Year 7 have enjoyed a fabulous week of camp this week; albeit one slightly disrupted by weather. Our youngest students have abseiled and climbed, canoed and canyoned, rafted and bushwalked. More importantly, however, they have been pushed outside their comfort zones and realised they are capable of more than they may have believed, and they have been forced to rely on each other. We will look forward to them returning this afternoon, with bags of smelly washing, war stories and, most importantly, new and deepened friendships. I am grateful for the trust of our wonderful Year 7 parents, for not only letting us take their children away for the week, but also for your support as we pivoted on Monday in response to dangerous weather conditions.

Year 7 will have a different kind of week next week, as they join Year 9 in undertaking NAPLAN testing. As a school, we encourage our students to approach thes tests as a learning opportunity, while helping them understand that such tests do not determine their futures. Rather, they provide our community with a snapshot of how our students are progressing so that we can help them learn more effectively.

As each year progresses, I note an increasing number of P-plated cars appearing in the Pitt Park Car Park. Older students and their families are reminded that as students pass their tests and obtain their Provisional Licences, should they wish to drive to and from school, they are required to complete a Student Driver Form (found on the Portal and at Student Reception). Should they wish to drive their friends, they must ask their friends to complete a Student Passenger Form, which may be found in the same locations.
