Important deadlines
All students applying for courses through VTAC should now be entering preferences into the system. The deadline for timely applications is September 28th (during the break) and financial penalties apply if you miss this deadline. Further details are in the 'ABC of Applying', including payment deadlines. Remember, if you do not pay the VTAC processing fee by the relevant deadline your course preferences will not be passed on to the relevant institution and you will not receive an offer. If you require assistance, please come and see us in the careers office.

Bond University

Meet U.S.A Universities
Students and parents are invited to join representatives from Johns Hopkins University and the University of Chicago for a joint Information Session. This presentation will feature information on academics, student life, and the application process, and will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions of the representatives.

William Angliss
William Angliss Institute will be conducting workshops for secondary school students in the upcoming September school holidays. Each day will include a hands-on activity in a specialist area, a campus tour, catered lunch and a course information session. The program is recommended for students in Year 9 - 12.

Deakin University Course Updates
Bachelor of Commerce – Deakin is launching a brand-new food and agribusiness major as part of the Bachelor of Commerce, available at the Warrnambool Campus. Students can enrol in 2018 and specialise from 2019. Find out more at Food and Agribusiness at Deakin
Media, Communication and Creative Arts – Students considering applying for Bachelor of Design (3D Animation), Bachelor of Design (Digital Technologies), or the

Bachelor of Nutrition Science - From 2018, Deakin’s Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Sciences will be known as the Bachelor of Nutrition Science. In addition to the name change, there have been some changes to the core units in the degree. Graduates of this course can apply for membership of the Nutrition Society of Australia, and those students who have undertaken the food science major may also be eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology.

Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) – Students who enrol in the Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) at the Melbourne Burwood from Trimester 1, 2018, will still complete a core professional industry experience unit as part of the course, however, the length of the placement is now a minimum of 60 days with an approved organisation. This has increased from the previous minimum requirement of 100 hours to provide students with increased opportunities to apply and consolidate their knowledge and build professional networks prior to graduation. Cyber Security and Criminology/Cyber Security – From Trimester 1, 2018, students enrolled in the Bachelor of Cyber Security or the Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Cyber Security at the Melbourne Burwood, Geelong Waurn Ponds and Cloud campuses will benefit from a compulsory industry-based placement. Students need to complete the minimum 100-hour placement with an approved organisation. This change is to ensure students have relevant industry experience prior to graduation to further enhance their employment opportunities. - ‘Step on Campus’ School Holiday Tours
Deakin Step on Campus is running again in Term 3 school holiday and students are invited to attend. Students will be taken on a 45-minute tour of their chosen campus by a current Deakin student. Students can find out more about university life, study areas and what it’s really like to be a student at Deakin!

Victoria University Early Entry
Victoria University’s Early Entry Offer Program (EEOP) is an alternative entry program for current Year 12 students. Students can receive a guaranteed place at Victoria University by fulfilling one of these categories:
- leadership
- educational disadvantage
- eligible school in the west.

VCE Extension Studies
Deakin University – Deakin Accelerate
Deakin Accelerate is a distinctive VCE higher education program that allows students to study two first-year university subjects during Year 12. Studying one subject per trimester, this selective program gives students a head-start into university studies and also provides a potential boost to their all-important ATAR score.
Besides the challenge of taking on a university subject, this subject will also count as part of the VCE and contribute towards the ATAR as the fifth or sixth subject. There are no tuition fees for Deakin Accelerate.

La Trobe University - VCE Plus Program
VCE Plus is an opportunity for high achieving Year 11 VCE students to complete a pair of first-year university subjects in their Year 12, and have them recognised as part of their VCE. Students enrolled in VCE Plus choose one subject per semester. VCE Plus is offered at all La Trobe campuses and subjects are delivered online, face-to-face, or a combination of both. There may be fees associated with the VCE Plus Program.

- Monash University - Extension Studies
Monash Extension Studies allows high achieving Year 12 students to get a taste of university before finishing school - and be rewarded for it. Students complete a pair of first year university subjects as part of their final year school studies, allowing them to extend and enhance their learning in an area of interest. Students also received credit towards their ATAR. There will be fees associated with the Extension Studies Program.

RMIT University – VCE Extension
RMIT’s VCE Extension allows Year 12 students to undertake university subjects while completing their VCE. These courses are VCAA-accredited towards VCE results and students may be eligible for credit in a related RMIT program.
Students will get a taste of university life, they attend lectures and study on campus with full access to all the services and facilities enjoyed by RMIT students. VCE Extension subjects are taught at the City campus and are counted towards students VCE and provide a boost to their ATAR. RMIT charges no fees for RMIT Extension courses.

University of Melbourne – Extension Program
The Extension Program is an opportunity for high achieving Year 12 students to study a university subject whilst at school which counts towards their ATAR, as well as experience university life. The University of Melbourne does not charge any fees for participation in the Extension Program.
