Year 11 and 12 Soccer Challenge

On Friday 8 March we had our annual Year 11 and 12 Soccer Challenge. This was a very close and fiercely contested game with many narrow misses at goal and each cheer squad trying to bolster their team to the delight of onlookers. The score at full time was 7 goals each so the game was decided in a penalty shootout, which to the great disappointment of Year 12 was won by Year 11, 4 points to 1.  Year 10 students and non-participating Year 11 and 12 watched the match and cheered on the teams in an event that is always a very positive experience for all involved. We congratulate all the players, their cheer squads, the umpires, maintenance crew for the set up, middle sub school for their assistance and support of the program and the senior sub school for organising this much anticipated yearly event.

Swimming Carnivals

On Friday, 8 March, all Year 7 to  9 plus some Years 10 to Year 12 students travelled to St Albans Swimming Pool for our annual swimming carnival. There was great participation in the swimming and novelty events, and a lot of house pride was on display. Well done to all participants, and to Buttrose House for winning over all. From this carnival our team for the Keilor Division was selected. This team completed against other local schools on March 15th. Over all the College finished second, which was a great result. Thanks to Mr Lakovski and his team for the organisation of both successful event. Refer to Junior School Report for photos.

National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence

On Friday, 15 March the College participated in the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence. This important day is a time in our school calendar where we make a stand to say no to all forms of bullying and violence in our community. The VCAL students hosted activities and a BBQ with volunteers from the Victorian Police Proactive Policing Unit, who came to support deliver positive messages at our school. The Wellbeing Team also lead activities and shared information with students regarding what to do and who to approach if they experience bullying. The Interact Club gave away free hot chocolates to any student who wrote a positive message to others, helping to spread positivity across our school. Eradicating bullying is important to our College not just on this day, but every day. Students have spent time in the lead up to this week learning about the impact of bullying and the role we all play in getting it out of our community. To access our schools anti-bullying policy click here. If students need support regarding bullying they should speak with their coordinator or a member of the Wellbeing Team.

Grade 6 Information Night

Last Tuesday evening the College opened its doors to our prospective Year 7 2020 students and their families. Over 420 people attended, which was a terrific outcome. The evening began with afternoon tea, followed by a presentation in the Gym. This was followed by school tours which showcased the work of the various Key Learning Areas. Thank you to Ms Cassar, Ms Papagianopoulos, as well as all the staff and students who supported the event. The students and families were given a wonderful view of what our school is like. If any members of our community know of any other families interested in enrolling their child at the College please ask them to contact the General Office for further information.
