We are certainly drilling down to the pointy end of the term and entering the final field of the race  to the finish. Teaching and learning remains a priority with content still to be learnt. As a catholic community of faith we have one remaining big celebration, being the Thanksgiving Graduation Mass and Prize-giving Ceremony. Please join us on Wednesday 13 December as we gather as a school community for the final occasion of 2017.

The Year 10 students were outstanding ambassadors for their school during the recent week long excursion. As young men and women, close to the time to leave to us, their days  together were  very meaningful and significant. Our collective thanks to Lauren Donnelly and Peter McKenzie for their generosity to leave their own beds for four nights and be on call for twenty-four hours a day, for five days. This commitment and generosity were appreciated by the Year 10 students.

The parish of St Francis Xavier  was advised at the weekend that Father Christopher Onuekwusi has been appointed as Administrator of Saint Nicholas’ Parish Tamworth effective 7 February, 2018. Father Chris will leave Moree on 31 December 2017,  farewelling Moree as his first Australian home. The school will remember Father Chris with great fondness and appreciation. In the coming weeks, Father Chris will accompany our group of secondary students and staff to Sydney to attend the Australian Catholic Youth Festival.

Father Kingsley Etoh, also from Nigeria, will join our Moree community as Assistant Priest of Francis Xavier’s Parish, Moree, effective 4  February, 2018. We look forward to his arrival.

On Monday, we acknowledged and celebrated the 2017 Premier’s Reading Challenge participants. A special mention must go to Bonnie Cumberland, a participant of seven years, which is really worth celebrating!
