Business as usual at the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre
The Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre (MAAC) is one of the community’s favourite places to relax, refresh and recharge.
The artesian waters have a long and rich history in Moree and the facility was redeveloped in 2011 to capitalise on this.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t redeveloped as well as it should have been and it has needed considerable and ongoing repairs over the past five years. To ensure the pool is permanently fixed and can be enjoyed for many years to come, Council is taking legal action against the pool builder to recover damages.
The good news is that this won’t impact on your access or enjoyment of the pools. The pools remain open for business, fully operational and safe to use.
The Council has placed minor access restrictions to the far-side of the 50m pool near the grassed area. These restrictions are based on independent structural assessments aimed at ensuring the longevity of the pool concourse and removing potential trip hazards caused by movement in the pool structure.
Your safety is our number one priority. The independent assessments we have received confirm the 50m pool continues to be safe to use.
Pool staff, council officers and independent bodies will continue to monitor, assess and test the facility to ensure it meets the highest possible safety standards.
We hope that, as a result of Council’s legal action, we will be able to not only fix, but improve the MAAC, to offer you an even better facility in the future.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
We hope to see you at the MAAC soon!
