Sustainability at St Raphael's

We have names!!!
After lengthy consultation and a school wide survey, our three chickens have finally been named. We are pleased to introduce you to Nugget, Mint and Scrambled!
Rain, rain, rain!
Due to last week's rain and participation in our school swimming program, our Outdoor Learning Space has been a little quiet lately. However our garden is still growing strong thanks to bucket loads of rain and warm summer days.
Thank you Miss Spillane!
For many years, Miss Clare Spillane has been hosting Garden Club at St Raphael's. Garden Club meet every Tuesday and Thursday and tend to our garden with enthusiasm and great spirit . Children are welcomed from all year levels and share the responsibility of looking after our garden through watering, weeding, planting and craft. They also enjoy the fruits of their labour and participate in preparing food which is always devoured with glee. Garden Club thank Miss Spillane for the time she has shared with them and wish her all the very best in her exciting new adventure.
Merry Christmas to Everyone!
What a positive 6 months it's been in our Outdoor Learning Space! During this time the students and staff have shared so many engaging experiences. We have moved mountains of dirt and bark, planted for the seasons, created our garden keeper Super Scarecrow Bill and welcomed three feathered friends to our school community. We have been challenged by the wheelbarrow obstacle course, been responsible for caring for our school and environment, prepared and enjoyed some delicious food and most importantly delighted in the joy and wonder of being outdoors.
"If we want children to flourish, to become truly empowered, let us allow them to love the earth before we ask them to save it." David Sobel
On behalf of Super Scarecrow Bill and all the creatures in our Outdoor Learning Space, we wish you a very peaceful and loving Christmas and look forward to spending time outside together in 2018.
