Junior School Highlights

Year 2 Excursion
This term as part of their Geography investigations, Year 2 students went on an excursion to Rickett’s Point Beach in Beaumaris. They participated in a hands-on workshop with a marine life expert who helped students to understand the delicate marine life ecosystem.
The students were then given the opportunity to explore the rockpools and beach area. They spent time asking questions, observing and classifying the abundant sea life in this carefully protected area of the beach, and then enjoying a beautiful picnic lunch in the sun while they discussed their discoveries.
Even though some students found themselves a little wet after their exuberant explorations, it was a great day out for all of the students, teachers and parents who attended!

My Year in Prep - Kid's Speak
When asked what they like about their year in Prep so far, this is what the students had to say:
- Dante: I like Geography and learning about the planets. It’s kind of like being an explorer. I also have the best class with the nicest teacher!
- Elina: I like reading because we can find new words and we can flip the sounds we don’t know! And I love writing because we can write about anything in the world!
- Ava: My favourite thing about Prep was Maths because we get to do counting and adding!
- Saffi: I have enjoyed learning about money and I am proud of my efforts in Maths this year.
- Daniel K: I am proud of my achievements in Maths and helping my friends when they need it.
- Alice: I have enjoyed painting my owl in Art and my work when learning about History.
Learning About Push and Pull in Year 2
This term in Physical Science the Year 2 students have been learning about Push and Pull.
The students have been investigating how a push or pull affects the way an object moves. As part of this unit the students have designed an invention that will be used to recover sunken treasure from the bottom of the ocean.
Their invention must be required to pull up the treasure, float on water and travel across land using the physical science principles of push and pull.
We will test our inventions before commencing our recovery mission at the end of the term.
