Year 8, 10 & 12 Advisers Reports
What a crazy Term 1 we have had. As we come into our last few weeks of the term, everyone is looking well and truly exhausted. End of term means lots of assessment tasks so hopefully Year 8 are not feeling too stressed with the amount of tasks coming in. The best advice I can give is to get started on them straight away. Don't let the notification sit in the bottom of your bag; get it out and put it into your assessment folder I know you all have (and if you don't I suggest getting one). Even better, just add the assessment notification to your calendar on your phones, as I know you all have one of those.
Speaking of phones, could I just reiterate the importance of not having phones out in the classroom and I would like to encourage Year 8 to keep them in your bags at break time and engage in conversations in person, instead of on your screens. I am seeing a lot of students addicted to their phones and watching Tik Tok videos. So please try and use them appropriately and to ensure you are not engaging in any bullying online.
Year 8 have been engaging in some really amazing activities this term. In terms of bullying, we had Harmony Day last week, a day where we celebrate all the amazing different cultures amongst our school. Some of our students wore their traditional dress to school, some of our great examples can be seen below with Vrinda, Connor and Margareth.
I was also so proud to see Year 8 engage with their Garden Market for Applied Learning. I loved walking around the different stalls, learning about all the different ways we can grow vegetables and plants through the use of recyclable items. It was exciting to hear that over $200 was raised and donated to World Vision. See the photo below of Daphne and her Garden Market stall.
Once again Year 8 you have outdone yourselves by raising and donating money to such a great cause.
I hope you all have a fantastic Easter, and enjoy the holidays. Stay safe, be kind and I will see you all for another wild Term.

Term 1 has gone so fast, with many different activities and assessment tasks for Year 10. It has been great to see so many students who have shown dedication to their schoolwork and extra activities. During this term students have had a chance to participate in sporting events, attend excursions, including camp and develop their leadership skills.
I would like to welcome our new students and their families to the school this year:
Sydney Andrews , Aiden Davis,
Lilly Lawrence, Autumn Marcangelo,
Ethan Mereniuk, Chiara Payne, Jessica Pearce,
Aditya Sheli, & Kyidzom Tenzin.
They are all settling in very well!!
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Swimming Carnival, and well done to Haylie Green and Riley Jones who were age champions. Several students then attended the Zone Swimming, all participating their best and a big congratulations to Haylie Green who was awarded Age Champion for Zone – a fantastic effort!!
Other sporting success stories this term was in touch football and volleyball, congratulations to all the students who participated in these events.
It has been wonderful to see many Year 10 stepping up to leadership rolls, including students who went to Year 7 Camp as peer mentors and those who attended the leadership day in Week 7. With the chance to be part of the school leadership team in Year 12, seeing students take steps to this opportunity is wonderful to see.
Throughout Term 2 there are several events happening for Year 10. They include:
- Cross Country
- Athletics Carnival
- Stage 6 Information Nights
- Stand Tall
- Immunisations
Lastly, I would like to wish all of Year 10 students and their families a Happy Easter. Please take time to relax and be with friends and family and come back to Term 2 refreshed!

Well done to Year 12, who are now halfway through their final year of school! Wow!
It has been a busy last half of the term, as students have been completing many assessment tasks, as well as juggling extracurricular activities and obligations outside of school. As always, they have done so with maturity and kept their excellent sense of humour!
One such extracurricular activity was the school disco in Week 6. This was organised by the SRC, which our School Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects helping significantly, and attended by many of the year group. Our leaders did an incredible job, along with Miss Ellis, in creating a wonderful night full of awesome dance moves, brilliant costumes, and lots of joy. Year 12 ran a canteen on the night to raise funds for the formal, with us achieving over $300 in profit! Thank you to all who helped us reach this amount.
On the 7 May 2023 Jessica Hayward, Lachlan Knowles, and Alexander McGavin competed in the local Lions Youth of the Year competition at Shelly Beach Surf Club. All students did an incredible job and represented the school impeccably, with Mr Ardley also receiving much deserved recognition from the club on the night. Alexander was the winner on the night and therefore he moved on to the regional round at Maitland on Sunday 12 March. He won this as well, and moved from there to the State Final at Bathurst on Saturday 1 April.
Great news! I have booked the Year 12 formal for Wednesday 15 November at Drifters Wharf. I’m already so excited for the night and coming up with lots of ideas to make it special. To help bring down ticket costs, we will continue fundraising, including a Bunnings BBQ at West Gosford on the 27 May.
As always, it’s been a busy but fun time for Year 12!
