HSIE &

Languages Faculty

This term has certainly flown by and the opportunity to pause and reflect on a productive Term 1 is a welcome one.

A highlight of Term 1 was the Year 10 History Excursion to the Sydney Jewish Museum. Faculty members were impressed with the level of maturity and insight displayed by our students on the day. Students were able to hear the stories of survivors, engage in sessions with the museum’s education officers and tour the exhibition space. It was a moment when history truly comes alive, and it was wonderful to share this with our Year 10 cohort.

Another highlight was the Mount Kosciuszko excursion with elected Year 10, 11 and 12 Geography students. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to gain insight into a complex ecosystem and participate in fieldwork. Huge thanks to Mr Newton, Miss McLennan and Mr Herring for their support of students.

Year 7 students will be putting the final touches to the collaborative Geographical Inquiry task as they return in Term Two. Teachers have been impressed with the levels of cooperation and responsibility Year 7 students have shown.

Students in 8E and 8Y will complete their rescheduled fieldwork excursion on Thursday 27th April.

On a personal note, the HSIE and Language Faculty would like to pass on our very best to Mr Judd Newton who will be leaving us at the end of school. Mr Newton applied for and has been successful in obtaining a teacher position in a school in Victoria. We will miss his expertise and enthusiasm in the classroom, as well as the valuable contributions he has made to our faculty.

Wishing you a great break and looking forward to Term 2.
