Cyber Safety Family Evening

On Monday we had a very successful cyber safety evening with Kate Wilde. Kate is an educator, counsellor and development worker with over twenty years experience working with young people, their families and communities. I last worked with Kate 16 years ago at my previous school with the students on emotional regulation. Monday evening Kate worked on the realities of the digital world that our children live in. As Kate said, we trust our children but not the technology and the 2 billion other people online that our children can come in contact with. Parents reported that there were great ideas and tips on how to regulate and supervise our children in order to keep them safe. The slides from the evening are linked below.

 

 

Staff Professional Learning - Shaz Bailey

The staff will continue their professional learning this year with Shaz Bailey. Shaz is an educational consultant working with staff on inquiry based learning. Shaz is the chair of the International Baccalaureate Educator Network (IBEN), and works as a consultant, school visitor and workshop leader, facilitating a wide range of PYP workshops throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific region, and also Immediate Past Chair of the Victorian PYP Network.

 

Friday 10th of March will be a school closure day as staff will work with Shaz for the day further developing our inquiry based learning.

 

 

 

St Bede's NAPLAN Testing Schedule

The online testing schedule for St Bede's Grade 3 and Grade 5 students this year is;

 

Wednesday 15 March - Online Writing test (grade 3 writing is a paper test)

Thursday 16 March - Online reading test 

Monday 20 March - Online Conventions of Language test

Tuesday 21 March - Online Numeracy Test

Wednesday 22 to 27 March - Catch Up testing time
