Do you like it or love it?

Artist - Mackenzie (4yo)

On a Monday morning we are beginning to start our weeks together in Whole Centre Worship.  A beautiful time to acknowledge each other as learning partners and to set our hearts on God before we get into our week.  You are more than welcome to join us if you have time - 9:10am start.

Each week we will launch some key thinking around our God and how we can live together in community.

Our Christian Studies curriculum is developed with the Lutheran Education Framework that is taught and expressed through all levels of learning at GSLS, from ELC to Yr 6 and beyond.

This year we will explore:

  • Who God is and the ideas that the children have about God.
  • Who Jesus is from stories in the Bible.
  • God's love for us and how that is unconditional.
  • God's special book for us - the Bible.
  • What it means to be part of a Christian community.
  • Times of worship, prayer and Christian celebrations.
  • How God cares for us and asks us to care for each other.
  • The amazing world God has created and how we can partner in caring for it.

This week we began with God is LOVE.  Throughout our days we often hear children say, "I love it!"  It could be as simple as declaring a love for something like chocolate or a piece of artwork, to telling a friend or educator.  The children joined in conversation using a 'thumbs up' for like or 'double thumbs up' for love as we went through various thoughts around flavours of ice-cream, favourite things to play on the playground and favourite toys.

We decided pretty quickly that when we love something that it makes us feel safe and special.  Just like God's love does!

I John 4:16 - "We know how much God loves us because we have felt his love and because we believe him when he tells us that he loves us dearly."

Our prayer is that each child at Curiosity ELC feels the love of God through our daily experiences with each other and as they spend time focussing on God's love for themselves.

Here are a few songs you might like to share together in the car about God's love.
