Ms Christine Larsen - Curriculum Leader The Arts

From the Visual Art Department

At the start of Week 2, Year 12 Visual Arts students embarked on a journey along the Brisbane River to various places of interest as a starting point to developing a body of work for their internal assessment. Beginning at Fort Lytton National Park to visit the historical military precinct, they also visited Nudgee Cemetery, Boondall Wetlands and ended the day at the Gallery of Modern Art to view the latest exhibition of contemporary art, “Air”. We look forward to observing the artistic outcomes that the students develop from the data they gathered on this day.

Year 10 Visual Art students also began Week 2 with a walking tour down to Enoggera Creek to document the sights, smells and sounds they experienced whilst at the creek . Inspired by the work of Brisbane artist Jacqueline Scotcher and her notion of “wayfaring” based on the multi-sensory experience of meandering through the natural environment, the students will spend the coming lessons creating experimental artworks which explore the colours, textures and shapes of the creek and its surrounds.
