Principal's Announcements

Book Week!

It was great to see everyone dressed up yesterday for Book Week getting into the spirit with this year's "Super Power" theme.  Well done to all the kids and parents for making such a big effort with their costumes.  I would also like to thank our own Super Hero Librarian Nerissa, who has made Book Week (and every week in the library) so special.

Father's Day Breakfast

We are looking forward to our Father's Day Breakfast next Friday 30th August starting at 7:30am.  A note will be sent out soon regarding attendance times and numbers.  There will be a "Dad's Joke" competition and a free coffee from Browny.

Sad News

Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Atkinson Family this week after the loss of Kyzaiah.  Kyzaiah was afflicted with a degenerative disease and was very ill in the last few months.  His brother Jayden is in Gr 1 (CD) and his older brother Kydan is an ex student  now in Yr 9 at Notre Dame. Ruby Atkinson (PKC) is his little cousin.  Our hearts go out to Kaye (Kyzaiah's Grandmother) and Denise who have shown so much love and care for Kyzaiah during his sickness.

Building Works

As many of you would be aware, building works have begun at the front of the school.  Over the next week our Administration area will move to the spare classroom in the 1/2 area.  We have put up some signs to assist with finding Naomi and Amber!

New - Family Advice Portal!

This week we launch our new Family Advice Portal as an ongoing section of this newsletter.  It has a wide range of topics that may assist families with common issues that effect children at home and at school.   Please make yourself familiar with this great resource.

2020 Preps

We have begun Interviews for next year's Preps.  If you have a child starting at St Mary's next year, please contact the office to arrange an appointment.

1/2 Unit on Animals

Our Gr 1/2 students have greatly enjoyed their Inquiry unit of work on animals this term, especially their trip to the zoo last week.  Well done to Nico Vigliaturo who visited me during the week to show me the bird house he made!

Parent Access Module Update

We are beginning a transition from Care Monkey to PAM for student medical information and permission notes.  Parents can now begin to complete a medical profile in PAM after clicking the "red bell" in the top right hand corner of the home page. Care Monkey will still be used in conjunction with PAM, until the transition period concludes in a few months.  We apologise for the inconvenience, however after  discussing the details with the School Board, we have decided this will be a better alternative moving forward.

Pupil Free Day

Just a reminder that this Friday 23rd August is a pupil free day.  The staff are taking part in technology Professional Development with the Catholic Education Office.

Principal's Award

Winner Week 4 - Genevieve Lawless.  Genevieve is a wonderful student who has a real love of learning and is a very gentle classmate.  She is committed to having a growth mindset in class and always has a positive attitude towards her work. Great work Genevieve!

Winner Week 5 - Maddie Carraffa.  Maddie is a great friend to others and is a positive role model to those around her in the classroom.  Her maturity has led to her being a real leader in the Gr 3/4 area, which is greatly appreciated by the teachers.  Well done Maddie!
