Principal's Announcements

Athletics

Congratulations Mr Preston for organising and running such a successful event yesterday.  Thank you for all your hard work and organisation in the lead up to our athletics carnival. We appreciate the time and attention to detail it takes to organise such a day. Well done to also to Mr Preston for training our students so well in the various techniques and skills needed to participate in all events. Thank you to our teachers for organising our students and to all of the parents and friends who came along to watch. A very big thank you to the past St Mary's students from Notre Dame  who came along and assisted with all aspects of the day. Thank you finally to Marley Galea, our SEDA student, who was in charge of recording and calculating the results of each event.

5/6 Travel Expo

Our 5/6 students have been working hard all term preparing for a Travel Expo! Each student has prepared a poster about a country of their choice as well as video presentation. I am especially looking forward to how our senior students have used green screen technology to make their video presentations look professional! All are welcome to attend the Expo which will be held in the Marian Centre this Thursday 20th September

-  9am until 11am.

Grade 2 Sleepover

Good luck to our Grade 2 students who are participating in the Grade 2 Sleepover at school this Thursday from 6pm. This sleepover is the first step in our Camps program and allows our younger students to be away from their families, often for the first time, in a safe and non threatening environment. This one night sleepover leads into the one night Grade 3 camp, followed by the two night Grade 4 camp and finally 3 nights in 5/6.

Principal's Award

Congratulations to Max Elder who received the Principal's Award last week. Max is a future student leader of our school who consistently proves himself to be a kind and helpful student to both his peers and our teachers. Max is polite and respectful and a well deserving winner. Congratulations Max!

ASHEFEST

Our Wednesday and Thursday some of our Indigenous students took part in ASHEFEST.

ASHEFEST is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and community run each year by the students of the Academy of Sport, Health and Education as part of their VCAL studies. Judging by the photos our students had a wonderful time and St Mary's is proud to support  such a positive celebration of Indigenous Culture.

Footy Colors for Farmers

This Friday come dressed in your favourite Footy Colours. We will be running a sausage sizzle for lunch.  Students can pre-order sausages through the paper note that was sent home last week and money raised will be donated to 'Aussie Farmers in Need'.

Not returning in 2019

If your family or student is not planning to return to St Mary's in 2019 could you please let the office know as soon as possible. This will help when we are looking at classes for 2019 and working out class sizes and groupings.

End of Term

Friday will be our last day of Term 3. Assembly will be held at 12.45pm and the latest Terrific Kid Awards will be presented. Students will be dismissed at 2.30pm and all buses will arrive early.

Have a safe and happy holiday.
