EAL (English as an Additional Language)

Over the past few weeks the EAL students from the Foundation classes have been learning about the parts of the body.  They made a face mask and included features such as eyelashes, eyebrows, cheeks, lips and chin.

The EAL students in Grade 2 have been learning about stories with morals.  They made stick puppets to retell and perform the story about The Ant and the Grasshopper.

Premiers' Reading Challenge

We’re about halfway through the PRC for 2019 and already we have many avid readers who have completed the Challenge.  Let’s meet a few of them.

Zachary B 3L suggests that you should read “Diary of a Minecraft Zombie”.  He liked it so much the first time that he’s reading it again.

Ridhaa 3C, recommends the Harry Potter books. She said that If you like adventures, action and magic this is the book for you. Ridhaa likes the language used in the book because it was just like in the movie.

Taylor 1I loves funny books like “A Dairy of a Wimpy Kid”. Taylor likes to read books to herself.

Alex C 2M said that he loves the Minecraft books.  His favourite is Minecraft and the Zombie Lands.  He likes the way that the author wrote the book.

Level 4 Term 2 Activities

Throughout Term 2 Level 4 have been learning about Earth, Space and Science.  For our excursion we visited the Melbourne Museum and Imax Theatre.  At Imax, students watched “Beautiful Planet” in 3D, which provided a unique perspective of our planet from astronauts working at the International Space Station.  At the museum students explored the Dynamic Earth exhibition, where they learned about the Earth's structure from hundreds of specimens from Museum Victoria's geological collections. The students also walked through the Forest Gallery—a piece of Victoria's mountain landscape complete with tall eucalypts, ferns, rare plants and wildlife.
