Carroll Cup: Round 1

The 50th year of the Carroll Cup the Combined Wagga Wagga High Schools Australian Rules competition kicked off on Wednesday night (pardon the punt). The Carroll Cup was donated by the then Bishop of Wagga, Bishop Frank Carroll. The competition commenced in 1969 with schools playing at two levels, i.e. First XVIII and Second XVIII.
Kildare played TRAC in a fast, tightly fought contest, and through a very pleasing team effort were able to come away victorious. 11.15.81 to 7.4.46. Jack Sase, as captain, led the team from the front and controlled our defensive line superbly. There were many terrific contributions across the park but it was a well controlled team effort that got us the chocolates.
Our next game is on Monday May 14th at 8.00pm, Robertson Oval against MDCC. A game not to be missed.
Yours in footy,
Peter Gaffney | Coach
