MESC Learning Commons

MESC Learning Commons

The MESC Learning Commons incorporates the MESC Library and Information Communications Technology (ICT) areas.

This is also where you will find the following staff:

Mrs Lynn Swannell (Library Manager),

Mr Kevin Hunter (ICT Manager)

Mr Carey Le Bas (Systems Administrator)

The Learning Commons is open Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm and sometimes closed on Friday at recess for staff meetings.

The Library Monitor Team helps out by running the book club, loaning out and shelving books, selecting and covering new books, creating displays and helping you find your favourite book.

If you are looking for help with your research, setting up your new iPad or computer, writing a bibliography, resetting your password and getting on the network, or just need something to do at lunchtime then this is the place to be.

Here are a few activities to spark your interest...

"Between Covers Book Club" - in the Learning Hub every Wednesday lunchtime and run by Library Monitors (Lucaya and Violetta).  Just bring a book and your lunch to join in discussions about books, authors, play games related to books, and other fun activities.  We also get the opportunity to go on excursions such as the Melbourne Writers Festival to listen to and meet some of our favourite Young Adult authors.

If you love a good jigsaw puzzle then you'll love joining others in putting these together.  There is always one in the corner of the library and it's a great way to meet others too.  So if you're up to the challenge come and join in.

You might also like to bring your 'wits' in with you and challenge a friend to a game of chess.  There's a chess board set up ready for anyone to play.

As always there are many books to choose from, with lots of new titles on display and old favourites on the shelves.  So if you want to sit down and read a good mystery novel or have your eyes glued to a cliff hanger adventure book then this is the place to be.

There is also a new '3D Design Club' which will be held in the Learning Hub every Thursday lunchtime.  You can use the 'Tinkercad' program to create 3D figures and items which will be 'printed' on the machine.  If you want to find out more, or need help with another 3D program, then come and join in.

Everyone is welcome to come into the Learning Commons (Library) and if you have any questions then please ask the Year 7 Library Monitors (Belle, Poppy, Marcus, Callum) or the Year 9 Library Monitors (Kiana, Jocelyn, Lucaya, Violetta, Eliza, Jamey, Ben, Nathan, Corey) who will be happy to help you.
