The Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice
The Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice has been celebrated on 5 May since his beatification by the then Pope John Paul II in 1996. The Pope spoke of Edmund as "a shining example of the fruitfulness of the Christian Life. Here we have an outstanding model of a true lay apostle and a deeply committed Religious." Although there have been quite a number of people who have chosen to follow Edmund as a Religious, amongst whom are the Christian Brothers, we are all challenged to follow him as a "true lay apostle". Let us pray.
God of Love and Faithfulness, You inspired Blessed Edmund Rice to open his heart
to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
Through the power of your Holy Spirit grant that we may all follow his example
of faith and generosity as we seek to live lives of love and service.
May we go forward with confidence, trusting in Your guiding light.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, your Son
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever.
Amen.
Br Sherrin addressed the students at our
Edmund Rice Feast Day Assembly on Monday.
We wish to thank all our mothers
for their love and understanding
and for always being there.

Minister Kean is the NSW member for Hornsby and he shared with the students that his father and his uncles all went through St Pius X College as students.
Minister Kean was very enthusiastic and engaging with the students and he explored the many challenges ahead for the new Berejiklian Government in relation to both energy and the environment.
We are looking forward to a spectacular concert this Thursday evening 9 May at Oxford Falls.
So much effort has gone into this concert from the students and the staff and I strongly recommend everyone come along and enjoy this showcase.
Full details can be found on the Performing Arts page.
Next Monday evening is the Term 2 P&F Meeting. Mr Rick Russo will be our guest presenter and he will be sharing some great wisdom about raising adolescent boys in the age of technology. This will be an interactive workshop and we look forward to an engaging and interesting evening. All are welcome.
The College congratulates two great scouts in Tristan Williams (Year 9) from the Frenchs Forest Scout group and Reece Williams (Year 10) from the 1st Turramurra Scout group. These boys are not brothers but both share a great passion for Scouts.
The College congratulates them as they have been presented the Australian Scout Medallion which is the highest achievement for a Scout aged 11-14 and is of similar status to the Queen’s Scout Award earned by Ventura Scouts (ages 15-17).
Well done to these fine young men for their leadership, organisation, drive, determination, resilience and high-level practical Scouting knowledge.
