Hands on Learning

Year 7 students have enjoyed designing and building a dragster vehicle. This task required a chassis to be designed, cut out of plywood and decorated.

Students followed the design process to generate ideas on paper and then select a preferred option which became the one they used.

Careful measuring and cutting axles and guide tubes allowed the wheels to be fitted. A motor and gears were then installed with a switch, battery pack and wiring soldered on to complete the project.

A variety of skills and knowledge were learned by the students to succeed in this project including: soldering, wiring, electronics component identification and schematic diagram interpretation.

These are all valuable skills that can be used as they continue their education
