Loving the Library @ MSC

During week 8 the Year 7’s got to hear from Australia’s leading performance poet Joel McKerrow. It was a great opportunity to listen to him speak about poetry and ways to get ideas on paper.  One of the things he identified to students was that even though they think they do not like poetry, they might not realise that music is composed with lyrics that are actually poems! He discussed many different ways to get ideas on paper when creative writing and performed one of his poems which was well received by our students.

Joel is hosted workshops at Melton City Library where students were able to get expert guidance on creative writing.  Students can also enter the Melton City Libraries Creative Writing Competition with a chance to win up to $300.00. Information and applications are available at the MSC library.

Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge

MSC students participating in the Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge are reminded to go into their profile and update any books they have been reading so they can count towards meeting the challenge. If you need any support with this, please see your English teacher or a member of library staff.

During the colder weather there is nothing better than curling up with a good book and a warm drink, make sure you come in to pick up some school holiday reading!

The library is open from 8.30am until 4.30pm. Recess and lunchtime are for schoolwork, study or independent reading.  We are now offering a DVD loan service.  Students may borrow 4 items on a fortnightly basis and are able to re-borrow if required.
