It is nearly school holiday time again and you may be worrying about how to keep your children entertained on cold, wet days.

 

The Hills Environment Centre and The Summit Community Centre are running two science based programs on THURSDAY JULY 21ST

 

SIMPLE MACHINES: PUSH!PULL! WITH SCIWORLD  Ages 5-8 from 11am  - noon. Cost $5.00

This 60 minute hands-on workshop teaches children through simple experiments at workstations all about machines, levers, magnets and pulleys in every day practical applications. It will introduce the concepts of FORCES and WORK and hence show how machines enable us to do work much more easily. It uses an interactive story to introduce the six simple machines which are the basic building blocks of all other machines.

 

ROBOTICS WITH SCIWORLD Ages 9-15 1pm – 2pm. Cost $5.00

In this workshop you will learn how to program your Lego NXT Mindstorm EV3 Robot and by the end of the session, you’ll be amazed at what you can get your robot to do. Laptops, robots and programming lesson are included.

Calm Kid Central

Calm Kid Central has once again been funded to provide the Calm Kid Central programs (Psychological support program) for free for families and (professionals who work with children ) within the Country SA region using access code FIRSTYEAR (access for 12 months get a response from our child psychs within 48 hours in the Q & A centre, interactive games and videos/lessons directly for kids and 'how to' lessons/courses for parents/caregivers on supporting children with big feelings and dealing with life challenges). Uraidla history book for sale
