Music
It has been another busy term, full of many wonderful opportunities to connect, and many chances to make music together.
Groovin at the Austrian Club
One of our yearly favourites, Groovin at the Austrian Club was once again a massive success. With lots of great performances from across the Music Academy. Thank you to our generous sponsors, families, teachers, and friends all chipping in and raising money to help fund the music department. - Blake Hocking
VCE Performance
Our VCE Performance was a smaller event than others, but one displaying a variety of talents from those taking VCE music. The night featured masterful performances from multiple genres, from Pink Floyd and Deep Purple, to three different renditions of Bach suites (each on a different instrument). The diverse range of musical styles and instruments created a wonderful, supportive atmosphere for VCE music students to showcase what they’d been working on throughout the first semester. - Zach Osborne
All State Jazz
Symphonic Soul and Wind Symphony competed in the All State Jazz competition. They performed wonderfully and made Macleod College proud. Thank you to all the teachers and parents for their support on the day.
Y7 Band Class
Our Y7 Band Class have had their first performances, playing for each other during class, and the students have grown as musicians week by week. It has been marvellous to watch their progression, and we are really proud to offer students the opportunity to play an instrument that they may not otherwise have.
Live for Lily/Election Day
Jam Band had two fantastic performances, one during the Live for Lily walk-a-thon and another the next day at our Election Day BBQ. Special mention to two amazing Y7 students, Daniel and Declan, who joined the band on the Friday afternoon just before Live for Lily, and who both showed up first thing the next day for the Election Day performance.
Macleod Community Rotunda Performances
We have recently been doing some lunchtime performances at the Macleod Rotunda to a great reception from the local community.
Bunnings BBQ
A big thank you to all the parent and student volunteers who helped at our Macleod College Music Academy Bunnings BBQ and a big thank you to Mr Arney for coming along to support.
Music Support Group
Please get in touch with Mr Griffiths (gri@macleod.vic.edu.au) if you would like to help support the Macleod College Music Academy by being a part of the Music Support Group. We are actively seeking parents/carers to join us in supporting our students and raising money for the music department.
Wind Symphony Mentor Program
It has been fantastic to see our senior students mentoring our younger students in Wind Symphony. Watching our more experienced students pass on their knowledge, and supporting our less experienced students has been a joy, and has breathed new life into Wind Symphony.
