Children’s Book Week 2022

Dreaming with eyes open...

This term in library lessons students will be looking at the shortlisted books for the CBCA (Children’s Book Council of Australia) Book of the Year Awards. The Theme for 2022 is ‘Dreaming with eyes open’. This week we listened to the stories Jetty Jumping and Stellarphant and talked about having dreams and wishes.

Book Week is in Week 7 of this term, 22nd-26th August. Students will vote on their favourite books from the shortlist before the judges give us the winners on the Saturday before Book Week.

The Book Character Parade this year will be after the whole school assembly in the Brigidine Centre on Friday 26th August. Parents and carers are most welcome to attend.

Encourage your children to start thinking about easy costumes they could come dressed in. We will share some ideas with students during library each week.

Scholastic Book Club

Thanks to all those parents who have been supporting our Book Club efforts. This support has earned the Library over $500 to buy new books for St Augustine’s students to borrow. The fliers are sent home when they arrive and we leave two weeks for orders to be placed. Orders can be done through the LOOP facility at Scholastic Book Club or by sending money with the order form to the Office. Orders for the current issue (Issue 5) are due back by Friday 22nd July.
