Hands on Learning

Hands on Learning has spent the majority of term 2 giving back to the community by spending time volunteering at the Melton Botanic Gardens, Melton Central Kinder and Trees for a Cooler, Greener West.

Jill and her many volunteers have welcomed our hands on learning students to the Melton Botanic Gardens, where they work with students, educating them on the many different aspects of the grounds. Hands on students have worked hard around the boardwalk area, weeding and mulching and watching all of their hard work transform over the weeks.

Melton Central Kinder have also given our Hands on Learning program a chance to give back to the community by allowing us to come in and fix up and help out with a few things that staff would usually have to do on their holidays. The students are currently fixing up a much loved timber rabbit and mushrooms, which will be returned to the kinder for the children to enjoy next term.

Lastly we would like to announce that after attending the Hands on Learning Conference in Port Melbourne last Friday, our Hands on learning program walked away with the Sowinski Community Projects Award 2022. This award would not be possible if it wasn't for our hard working students and the community groups that allow us to join them.

Working within the community gives the students a sense of pride and the knowledge that they have made a difference.

Stay tuned for our next lot of projects.
